Because there are so many Internet-savvy scrapbook paper and embellishment designers today, the Internet is full of free digital scrapbooking images that can be downloaded free. That means all you need to know is how to do a Web search and download files and you can find all the images you need to create gorgeous scrapbooks. That’s why popular artist Mary Englebreit recently remarked that the Web is a great source of scrapbook graphics that will yield almost anything you might need. And she should know about good images; products carrying her graphics sell like crazy!

The following are samples of some of the types of free scrapbooking images I’ve found on the Internet:

Antique

More and more people seem to be searching for vintage scrapbooking supplies. That could be because vintage art is so timeless and creates such classic-looking results. Antique greeting cards make perfect vintage scrapbooking embellishments, as do clip art images from years gone by. And if you’re lucky enough to find vintage designs on digital scrapbooking papers, you’ll have the best of both worlds. Antique images also cover a wide variety of subjects, which means you can find images as diverse as vintage airline posters, old sailing ships, Victorian fashion illustrations, magic show posters and vintage flowers. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, you can probably find vintage art to match.

Holidays

Holidays just naturally invite the creation of scrapbooks, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And it’s not just the “showier” holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day and Halloween that inspire scrapbooks; it’s the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments online for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. You can also find Earth Day clipart for Earth Day, as well as images for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and just about any other holiday you can think of; even the silly or off-beat ones.

Flowers and Butterflies

People who scrapbook seem to love flowers of all kinds, and why not? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies, too, have a large audience, because they bring to mind so many things we love: freedom, summertime and other happy things. Butterfly and flower images are also diverse, because an abundance of them can be found as both illustrations and photos, and in modern and vintage styles. You can even find butterfly scrapbooking embellishments that span both vintage and modern in the same collections.

Wedding Images

Weddings and scrapbooks were made to go together, because wedding photo albums have always been traditional anyway. But if you can make it a wedding scrapbook instead, you can preserve your memories in an even more creative way. There is a surprisingly good selection of wedding scrapbook images on the Internet that will allow you to create a lasting memento for little or no cost. And if you can’t find any specifically for weddings, flower images can also give you a pretty look.

Baby

Like weddings, babies invite photography. And, of course, scrapbookers love to use those photos to create family heirlooms. Fortunately, this can be done for next to nothing using just scrapbook graphics from the Internet. If you haven’t looked at baby images for a while, though, you might find the color schemes a little surprising these days. Burnt orange, chocolate brown and red are all the rage, as well as a few specific shades of green. Blue and pink are still popular, of course, it’s just that you can find a lot of bolder color choices too.
