Always Include Keywords

Keywords are important, so make sure that it’s there in your ads. On the average, a person will glance away from the actual search results in just a couple of seconds. If they don’t see the keyword they’re searching for in the ads, they will go away. Of course, you ad must also be appealing, compelling and make total sense. It can be difficult to create compelling ads on such a short space. Make sure that you include your keywords because if you don’t, you’re simply wasting money, time and effort.

Tips on Bidding Strategy: High To Low

Lets take a look at how Google ranks your ads. Your ads are ranked according to your bid price and your click through number (Click Through Rate or CTR). The CTR is the number of clicks your ad gets when it was shown. As a newbie, your ads initially get a low quality score, putting you on a disadvantage compare to older and more experience advertisers. One way is to bid higher to get your ad shown. Most newbies bid high to get that initial exposure. Once you get an established amount of CTR, then you can lower your bid price. You have to work within your budget and try to keep your ads within the first page without busting it.

Tips on Bidding Strategy: Low To High

Another common bidding strategy is the reverse of the above strategy. This is very useful for keywords that aren’t so competitive or popular. If your budget is limited, you can also use this method. You begin by bidding low and then slowly increasing your bid price until you land on the first page. Again, you must try to land your ads on the first page with the lowest bid possible.

Use Negative Keywords

The use of negative keywords prevents your ads from appearing in search results that are totally unrelated. As an online advertiser, you have a specific target audience and you want your ads to appear in front of them. If you don’t use the negative keywords function, your ad could appear on the wrong place and wrong people. For instant, when you are selling a dog collar and you are using “collar” as your keyword. However, when someone type in the word “collar”, he may be looking for different information or different types of collar. He may own a cat and looking for a cat collar. What you can do is to use the negative keywords function and add “cat” into it, so that your ad don’t show. You must use the negative keywords to target your ads. This helps you target the necessary audience only, and helps increase your CTR more.

Ad Testing

Testing ads is very important,Google AdWords can be a pain in the neck to use at times, but one good thing about it is that testing in Google AdWords can be automatic. By placing in two different ads in each AdGroup, Google AdWords then alternately displays the ads in search results. After sometime, Google will decide which ad works best and use it more often. As you continue to test different ads, eventually, you will find the best performing ad.

Everyday, Google display millions of ads online and if you plan to use Google AdWords, you need to do more to succeed. The key is to know what works and what’s not in Google. Use the strategies here and you’re ready to go.
